Man, did this one make me sick… it took me close to an hour and a half to find a solution to this one!
On a server where Symantec Corporate edition was installed, I could not unlock the server group under the Symantec Console.
I attempted several times to use the iforgot.exe tool that everyone suggests. But the stupid iforgot didn’t “iwork”. I know, that wasn’t funny….
Anyway, I finally found a solution that works….. ttaaaaaddaaaa!!
Follow these steps carefully:
1. Go to Run and type in Regedit and hit enter.
2. Under the registry editor browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion.
3. Copy and Paste the contents below to a new notepad file and save it as “filename.reg”…. (make sure it ends in .reg).
4. After saving the file, double click the new reg file to add it to the registry.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Intel\LANDesk\VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\Accounts]
“user-admin-p”=”s7CxGC0ZiW1Fk7mJV2Lcn8Gso+245G0khV/EvY5Z8zs+NY0=”
“user-admin-r”=”20ABEC27837266AF34AE6C0A2683B5BB4714B6B7F34″

Then run the iforgot.exe the ususal way.The user name is admin(case sensitive)
To find the iForgot.exe tool:
To reset the Symantec System Center admin user password
- On the computer running Symantec System Center, start Windows Explorer.
- Go to \Program Files\Symantec\Symantec System Center\Tools.
- In the right pane, double-click the IFORGOT.exe file.
- In the Primary server field, type the name of the server group’s primary server.
- In the user field, type admin
- In the New Password and Confirm New Password fields, type the new password.
- Click Reset Password.
You may be prompted for a Windows user name and password if you specify a remote server.
